| Beyond is the title of Antonella
Grima' s first solo exhibition, held at the Heritage Malta Head office
between the 8th of August and the 11th September 2005. The exhibition comprises
a collection of 25 paintings in ink executed between 2004 and 2005. The theme of
the exhibition is an unusual and innovative one. Antonella looks beyond our
everyday mundane surroundings, and delves into the infinite universe that
surrounds us, the skies that many have looked at in search for answers, many of
them unanswered. Cool shades of blue intertwining and contrasting with glowing
whites evoke a feeling of depth, of wonder, of mystery. Beyond, the title of the
exhibition does not only portray physical distance between our earth and the
heavens that surround us, but also describes the thoughts behind the collection
- a sense of spirituality, a sense of awe at the wonders of nature and the many
mysteries it holds, a sense of searching for answers to the inquisitive human
mind.
